FACELIFT

FACE-LIFT – RHYTIDECTOMY Over time, the aging process, gravity, years of exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can make us appear older and more tired than we are. We may see deep creases begin to show between the nose and mouth, the jaw line is not as tight and firm as we remember, and the skin around our neck can become loose and "cripple". Each face ages differently, and even different parts of the same face begin to show age at different rates which might be due to heredity and how weíve maintained or abused the skin has been. Though these changes are gradual, wrinkles and other signs of aging can make individuals “feel older” than they really are. Rhytidectomy or facelift surgery can help rejuvenate a face by repositioning and/or removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles and lifting the skin to a more youthful position on your face and neck. Often men and women in their late-thirties to late sixties opt for facial rejuvenation and a refreshed cum vibrant appearance, so that they look as good as they feel, rather than their actual ageA face-lift corrects sagging tissue of the middle face, jaw line and neck, not the fine wrinkles, crowís feet, or the lines around the lips.

  • Traditional face-lift only minimally affects the nasolabial folds (deep vertical creases that run between the nostrils and the corners of the mouth). Newer technique in face lifting remodel the fatty layer and corrects the deep nasolabial fold to its youthful appearance. Mid-face lift are newer techniques that address the premature aging of the mid-face, mainly the deep nasolabial fold
  • Face-lifts do not affect the texture of the skin. However improving the texture of the skin compliments the facelift results, and the restoration of youth. A skin care program can restore youth and glow to the skin. Combined with chemical peel or laser resurfacing it improves on the fine wrinkles, texture and quality of the skin.
  • Face-lifts are often performed in conjunction with Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), Rhinoplasty (nose surgery), brow/forehead lift, and collagen or fat injections.

At like all of our other surgeries, the main emphasis is to analyze each individual and attempt to customize the many surgical maneuvers which will most benefit that person. We listen to our patients discuss and formulate an artistic surgical plan. The lifting elements are done in the plane of the muscles and fascia so minimal lifting needs to be done with the skin. This eliminates the over-operated, swept-up appearance. Incisions are placed so that they are nearly invisible. Often sagging of the skin is accompanied by loss of facial volume. Fat transfers and implants are used to increase facial volumes. We sculpt and employ the same artistic sense to try and make each face pretty and balanced.
