Concise answer
Overharvesting means removing enough follicles that the donor area begins to look visibly depleted. This is not only a scar issue. It is a density issue. Visibility can increase when too many grafts are removed from a small zone, donor density is low, extraction is uneven, or previous procedures have already reduced density.
In FUE, follicular units are removed individually from the donor area. Each extraction creates a small circular wound that heals with a tiny scar.
When these sites are distributed appropriately across a strong donor area, the marks can be difficult to notice under surrounding hair.
Before surgery, ask how extraction will be distributed, how much donor reserve will remain and what donor appearance is realistic after healing.
When evaluation may help
At Radiance Clinics, donor assessment is part of planning before a graft number is finalised.
